Western Isles Diabetes Network is a collaborative management structure involving the public, medical staff from hospital and general practice, diabetes specialists, podiatry, dietetics, public health, community services and finance. The Network is responsible for assessing the needs of the population of the Western Isles in terms of diabetes care, planning services to meet those needs, advising the Health Board on matter related to diabetes and ensuring that diabetes services are provided to a high standard. A key aim of the Western Isles Diabetes Network is to ensure that a high quality service is accessible to all those with diabetes and that people receive the level of screening, health checks, advice and information that is relevant to them. That service extends to supporting those caring for people with diabetes, parents and children. We also provide advice and support to the wider community through working with Health Promotion, the Local Authority and employers. We are happy to provide a service and advice to schools, colleges and places of employment on matters related to diabetes.
